If you're interested in learning about ceramic coatings or want to inquire about our services, you're welcome here! First and foremost, if a dealership or anyone else is pressuring you to get a ceramic coating, I recommend you leave—run! If they’re pressuring you, likely, you don’t need it.
In most cases, ceramic coatings are more about vanity, making your car look better and easier to wash. To wash your car correctly, you'll usually want to set aside a weekend with the right tools: a hose, a bucket, and your favourite car soap. Honestly, ceramic coatings are durable and can handle almost any type of soap.
Aside from aesthetics, some people opt for ceramic coatings for the warranty, support, scratch protection, and a sacrificial layer—especially if your vehicle is prone to being targeted by bird droppings. Real ceramic coatings come with a warranty certificate, which your insurance company may require if you need to make a claim. Additionally, most reputable shops, like mine, offer support services if you experience a fixable scratch or need a respray.

In the professional ceramic coating industry, there are mobile detailers, workshops, and showrooms. While mobile detailers have their merits, I will focus on workshops. Workshops typically have fewer staff members, and every inch of their space is utilised for working on vehicles. Their overhead expenses tend to be lower due to the smaller space and fewer employees.
Showrooms, on the other hand, operate like events; they feature comfortable seating, music, and a lively car show atmosphere. Many showrooms host car show meet-and-greets, and often have dedicated social media teams for photo shoots and videos to promote your vehicle. Consequently, they usually incur higher overhead costs than workshops like mine. However, both workshops and showrooms can deliver exceptional work, although workshops may offer more competitive pricing.
Tip: Before booking, check the detailer’s social media presence. If they focus on getting rich or bragging about money, it may be best to look elsewhere.
The quality of service from workshop detailers and showroom detailers should be comparable. Both aim to impress you with their skills. In my case, the daily minimum is $460, which covers wages and rent. If I earn less than $460, I incur losses. In contrast, a nearby showroom detailer has a minimum of $650 per day. I've heard that showrooms near the city often require a minimum of $1,000 per day for just one worker.
At my workshop, we typically work on a car for two days. On Day 1, we handle all washing and polishing. On Day 2, we reinspect the vehicle and polish as needed. Splitting the process over two days has two main benefits: it prevents physical strain from polishing an entire car in one day, and it ensures that nothing gets overlooked. Additionally, polishing softens the clear coat, and we want to allow 12 hours for it to resettle. Ceramic coatings also do not cure properly in humid conditions, which can diminish gloss. After the inspection, we prepare and apply the ceramic coating, ensuring the car is in a low-humidity, climate-controlled environment. By the morning of Day 3, the car is ready for you.
Regarding our Gtechniq ceramic coatings, we offer Crystal Serum Light (a five-year coating) and Crystal Serum Ultra (a nine-year coating) as the base layer, along with Exov5 as the top layer. Ceramic coatings can either be hard and long-lasting or hydrophobic with a shorter lifespan. Graphene coatings are designed to combine the best features of both, being easier to apply. However, despite my hopes for their effectiveness, we have yet to be impressed with graphene coatings. To date, no professional ceramic coating we’ve used has disappointed us. We still have five-year ceramic coatings performing well even seven years after application.
Be cautious of scams in the market. While some dealerships can be unscrupulous, others are excellent; for instance, I have contracted work with Gilbert and Roach and have consistently been impressed by their service. The minimum cost of materials required for a professional ceramic coating ranges from $400 to $600. If you're offered a ceramic coating for $900 or less, you might be getting ripped off. Cheaper DIY ceramic coatings are available for $75 to $100 at places like Supercheap Auto, but their results are often subpar. If they were effective, we would certainly be using them. Question: With the nonrefundable booking fee, what happens if I need to cancel?

Answer: The booking fee includes the cost of the product associated with your car. If you need to reschedule, there's no problem; we just need to install it on your car within 60 days of purchase.

Question: How long will we need the car?

Answer: We need the car for one and a half days and will return it on the morning of the third day. For example, if you drop off the car by noon Monday, we will have the car ready by 7:45 am Wednesday

Question: Should I wash the car before bringing it in?

Answer: No. No one will wash it better than us. Their washing methods might cause us more work.

Question: Why is there a non-refundable booking fee?

Answer: It covers the cost of the products. Since it is a guaranteed product, it can only be installed by us. We cannot use or resell the product. Once it's ordered, it's tied to your car.

Question: Can you explain the booking fee a bit more?

Answer: Once we receive the booking fee, we order the product, and it normally arrives overnight or in two days.

Question: When you say for most cars, what do you mean?

Answer: Our prices include a one-stage paint correction, which takes about 6 - 8 hours to complete. If your car has oxidation or is in bad condition, it might need wet sanding or a two-step paint correction. Those additional steps can take days to complete. Seethe photo of the yellow car below.
